La Liga: Real Madrid bounce back to defeat Villarreal
Real Madrid came back from two goals down to bounce back and register a 3-2 victory over Villarreal in La Liga. Villarreal had taken a lead after two quick second-half goals from Manu Trigueros and Cedric Bakambu. However, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata scored a goal each in 64th, 74th and 83rd minute respectively to win the thriller.
Ronaldo breaks La Liga's penalty record
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo broke another record as he scored a penalty against Villarreal in the 74th minute of the game. The Portugal has become La Liga's all time leading penalty scorer and has 57 successful penalties to his name.
Messi scored late to win it for Barcelona
Argentina's Lionel Messi struck a late goal against Atletico Madrid to win the match 2-1 for FC Barcelona. After a goal-less first half, Rafinha opened the account for Barcelona in the 64th minute. Within five-minutes, Diego Godin scored the equalizer. Messi stunned the home-side after netting a cut-back from Luis Suarez and sealing the game for the visitors.
Athletic continue to win at home
Athletic Club extended their unbeaten home run to 12 after they defeated Granada 3-1. Markel Susaeta, Inigo Lekue and Mikel San José scored a goal each in the 11th, 33rd and 69th minute of the game.
Real Madrid climb on top of the points table
After a 3-2 win over Villarreal, Real Madrid FC climbed back on the top of the LaLiga points table. They have won 17 of their 23 games and have 55 points. Madrid are followed by rivals FC Barcelona, who have won 16 of their 24 games and are a point behind. Sevilla and Atlético Madrid are on the third and fourth place respectively.
