2017 Australian Open: Nadal smashes his way into quarter-finals
What's the story
Ninth seeded Rafael Nadal went past sixth seeded Gael Monfils to storm into the quarter-finals of 2017 Australian Open at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne today.
Nadal won the fourth round match 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours and 55 minutes to make his place into the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam after almost two years.

Raonic to face Nadal in quarter-finals
After a 7-6(8-6), 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Roberto Bautista Agut, Canadian third seeded Milos Raonic entered the quarter-finals of men's singles. He will be up against Spain's Rafael Nadal on Wednesday.
Women's singles
Serena cruises ahead; to face Johanna in quarters
World number two Serena Williams moved into the quarter-finals of women's singles after a hard fought victory over Czech Republic's Barbora Strycova.
Serena registered a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the 16th ranked player in one hour and 45 minutes.
She will now meet Britain's Johanna Konta in the quarterfinals. Konta defeated 30th ranked Ekaterina Makarova 6-1, 6-4 in the fourth round.
Mixed doubles
Paes-Hingis enter the quarter-finals
Wild card entrants Leander Paes and Martina Hingis cruised into the quarterfinals of mixed doubles after a straight set win in round two.
They defeated Australian pair of Casey Dellacqua and Matt Reid 6-2, 6-3 in just 54 minutes.
The Indo-Swiss pair has won the Australian Open Mixed Doubles title once, in 2015 and is on the path to win the second one.

18-year old Zeel Desai advanced into the pre-quarters of junior girls' singles event after a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Germany's Jule Niemeier. She will meet fifth seeded Serbian Olga Danilovic in the next round.
