Australian Open: Rafa fights hard; advances ahead
Spain's Rafael Nadal defeated highest ranked teenager in the world Alexander Zverev to move into the fourth round of 2017 Australian Open at the Rod Laver Stadium in Melbourne. The 30-year old won the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(5-7), 6-3, 6-2 in four hours and five minutes. He will face France's Gael Monfils in the next round on Monday.
Pliskova advances after a three set marathon
Fifth seeded Karolina Pliskova registered a win against Jelena Ostapenko in a three set marathon third round match lasting for more than two hours. After losing the first set 4-6, Pliskova made a comeback in the second to win 6-0. The third set was the longest of the match, going in the favor of Pliskova 10-8.
Serena's easy win over Gibbs
Serena Williams defeated Nicole Gibbs in the third round match to advance into the next round. Williams won the 6-1, 6-3 match in just over an hour to meet Barbora Strycova in the fourth round.
Indian tennis players win their respective matches
Sania Mirza won the first round match of the mixed doubles 7-5, 6-4 along with Ivan Dodig of Croatia. In another mixed doubles match, Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski registered a 6-4, 6-7(5-7), 10-7 win to advance in the second round. Zeel Desai moved into round two match of the junior girls singles event after a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win over Kaitlin Staines.
Raonic calmly storms into round four
The world number three Milos Raonic defeated Gilles Simon 6-2, 7-6(7-5), 3-6, 6-3 in the round three of men's singles in two and a half hours. He will face Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut in the fourth round.
