    What's the story

    Iranian power lifter Siamand Rahman defended his gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in the men's super heavyweight title by lifting 310 kg.

    This is the first time that any Paralympian has ever lifted more than 300 kg.

    He had lifted 280 kg at the 2012 London Paralympics and 296 kg at the World Cup in Dubai last year.

    Britain's Hannah Cockroft breaks world record

    Hannah Cockroft broke the world record in the women's T34 400m to win her second gold medal for Britain at the Rio games. She completed the track in 58.78 seconds.

    Four new world records broken

    In the women's S12 100m backstroke, Britain's Hannah Russell won gold, recording a time of 1:06.06.

    Ukraine's Anna Stetsenko recorded a time of 27.34 in the women's S13 50m freestyle event, breaking the world record.

    China's Wenpan Huang and Zhipeng Jin set world records in men's SB2 and SB3 50m breaststroke event respectively.

    Seven new Paralympic records were set at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium.

    India's Naresh Kumar Sharma fails to qualify for shooting finals

    Naresh Kumar Sharma finished 40th in the mixed R6-50m Rifle Prone event, ending India's run in shooting. The 44-year old shooter was previously knocked out in the qualification round of the mixed 10 metre air rifle prone shooting event.

    Medals tally

    China still on the top of medals table

    China has been dominating the medals tally at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and is continuing to do so by winning total of 172 medals which include 75 gold.

    On the second spot, Great Britain is inching towards its century of medals with a total of 91 medals.

    Ukraine is on the third spot with 81 medals while US is on fourth with 80 medals.
