Thailand qualify for the semis after a dramatic win
Thailand became the fourth team to qualify for the semi-finals after a 37-33 win over Japan in the Group B match of 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. Both the teams were near perfect and had the audience at the edge of their seats, but captain Khomsan Thongkham's raid in the 39th minute won it for the Thais. Thailand will face India in the semis.
Bangladesh overpowered Argentina
In the Group A match of the Kabaddi World Cup, Bangladesh showed no mercy against Argentina, thrashing them 67-26. Tuhin Tarafder scored a whooping 16 points for Bangladesh while captain Aruduzzaman Munshi collected 13 points. Argentina team had put a good show but was not enough to beat the Bangladeshi side. They finished last on the Group A standings without a win.
Kenya's semis' hopes crushed as Japan loses
The Kenyan team's semi-finals' hopes drowned as Thailand defeated Japan in a thrilling encounter. However, Kenya put an amazing show of sportsmanship as they gave a standing ovation to the Thailand team after the match and even cheered at the Thai team's winning points.
Korea to face Iran challenge as India go against Thailand
In the first semi-final match, Group A table toppers Korea will meet Iran. Korea has not lost a single match in the tournament while Iran face a defeat against Poland. In the second match, defending champions and favorites India will be up against a young and agile Thailand team. Both the matches will be played on 21 October 2016.
Can't let mistakes happen in the semis: Anup Kumar
Indian captain Anup Kumar said that the team wont repeat any mistakes they made in the group stage. He added, "Mistakes are not good, because if we make any mistakes in the semi-finals, we will be knocked out of the tournament."
