Poland defeats Iran in the World Cup's biggest upset
Group B table toppers Iran were handed a shocking defeat by Poland at the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. The Polish team out-ranked Iran in every aspect and won the match 41-25 inflicting two all outs on the Asian team, something which never happened earlier in the tournament. Poland's captain Michal Spiczko led the team from the front and got 12 points in the match.
Bangladesh beat Australia by a massive 80-8 margin
Bangladesh displayed a near perfect performance against Australia in the Group A match as they won by a 80-8 margin. Skipper Aruduzzaman Munshi scored 17 raid points for Bangladesh as they inflicted a tournament high seven all-outs on Australia. Bangladesh kept themselves alive in hunt for the semis' spot with the win. They will face Argentina in the final group match on 19th October.
Iran lost to avoid a semis clash with India?
Iran's loss against Poland may help them avoid a semi-final clash with the defending champions India and set a clash with Korea. But it might be a misconception of Iran to consider Korea a weak team.
India to face England in Group A encounter
In the final group match for India, they will will face England. Today's win for India will mean the host team securing a place in the semi-finals. However, a loss will mean they will have to depend on the outcome of Argentina-Bangladesh match tomorrow. In group B, Kenya will face USA in a contention for final four spot.
Points table
Korea is on top of the points table in Group A followed by India, Bangladesh, England, Australia and Argentina. Group B has three teams competing for the semi-final spot with Thailand and Japan on second and third spot respectively and Kenya on fourth.
