    Defending champions India stunned by Korea in Kabaddi WC opener

    What's the story

    The opening match of 2016 Kabaddi World Cup saw the underdogs Korea winning against the defending champions India.

    Korea defeated India 34-32 in a last minute thriller, giving India the sport's greatest upset ever.

    India was seven points ahead at one stage, but the Koreans made a comeback and clinched the victory in the last two minutes of the game.

    2016 Kabaddi World Cup begins

    The 2016 Kabaddi World Cup kicked off yesterday in Ahmedabad at the newly developed The Arena by TransStadia. The tournament will go on till 22 October 2016. Defending champions and hosts India would start their campaign as hot favorites.

    Iran thrashed newbies United States in Group B match

    Two time runners-up Iran outplayed the United States of America 52-15 in the opening group B match of the 2016 Kabaddi WC.

    Playing their first ever World Cup, the USA team was dominated by the Iranian team from the very first whistle itself.

    Iran's Mohammadesmaeil was the top scorer of the match, who scored seven points before being substituted.

    Today's schedule

    India to face Australia today

    In Group A fixtures, India will face Australia while England will face Bangladesh on day two of the Kabaddi World Cup.

    Even though, India is the top favorite of the tournament, Indian players will be under pressure when they face Australia after losing the first game against Korea.

    In Group B, first timer Poland will play against Kenya.
