Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja missed out on his fifth Test century. He was dismissed for 86 on Day 2 of the ongoing series opener against Bangladesh at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. He smoked 10 fours and 2 sixes during his 124-ball stay. Notably, the southpaw arrived to bat following a top-order collapse. Jadeja was involved in a 199-run stand with centurion Ravichandran Ashwin.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Ashwin and Jadeja recorded India's highest seventh-wicket stand against Bangladesh in Tests (199). They, however, missed out on becoming just the fifth Indian pair to record a double-century stand against the Tigers in red-ball cricket. They would have joined Shikhar Dhawan-Murali Vijay, Gautam Gambhir-Rahul Dravid, Dravid-Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli-Ajinkya Rahane.
