14-year-old smashes 556*-run innings comprising 98 fours, 1 six
In the U-14 Shree D K Gaekwad Two Day Tournament, a 14-year-old boy, Priyanshu Moliya, smashed a knock of 556* runs alone to take his team to a total score of 826. His innings was laced with 98 fours and one six. Priyanshu played this unbelievable innings for Mohinder Lala Amarnath Cricket Academy against Yogi Cricket Academy. Priyanshu's comments after the match
After the match, Priyanshu said that his previous highest score was 254 in the same tournament, last year. He added that bowling was good, and he was playing his natural game. Priyanshu added, "After my first hundred on Monday, I told myself that I need to score 200. I set goals of 100 runs each and was determined to continue playing the same way".
What did Mohinder Amarnath say after Priyanshu's knock?
Indian cricket legend Mohinder Amarnath said that he knew Priyanshu was a special talent when he saw the youngster for the first time. He commended Priyanshu on his passion and added that with the right amount of guidance and exposure, he can get much better.
Priyanshu explains how Amarnath helped him develop
Priyanshu revealed that Amarnath always observes him batting in the nets and has shown him numerous drills, which have helped him develop his batting technique. Amarnath has also taught him how to control various shots. After following his instructions Priyanshu said he was able to "score a lot of runs through the covers and got better with my back foot punches."
Priyanshu is good with the ball as well
Not only is Priyanshu a great batsman, but he is also a prolific off-spinner. He took four wickets in the first innings, bundling out Yogi Academy for 52 runs. He then took two wickets during Yogi Academy's second innings to take his tally to six.
