Zoook Jazz Duo Bluetooth headphone-cum-speaker review: Bang for the bucks
France-based Zoook recently launched its Jazz Duo headphone in India. The Bluetooth-enabled headset offers an on-ear design and comes with features such as built-in speakers, FM Radio, microSD card reader, and support for wired streaming as well. We've tested the Jazz Duo for the past couple of weeks to let you know if they are worth the price or not. Here's our review.
Zoook Jazz Duo: Design and wearability
The Jazz Duo comes with an on-ear design with a lightweight, adjustable headband, foldable cups, and well-cushioned earmuffs. The company has also profusely used leatherette to offer a premium finish. Overall, the built-quality is pretty good, the buttons are decently tactile and responsive, and the on-ear fit is snug enough to not ache your ears but still offers good amount of noise isolation.
Zoook Jazz Duo: Sound quality
For an entry-level Bluetooth headphone, the Jazz Duo surprisingly sounds pretty well, especially if you like a bass-dominant sound signature. We tested the headphone across all popular genres (Pop, Rock, Electronic, Classical) to find some distortion at peak volume. Surely, it doesn't sound like a $300 worth Beats or Bose headphone but for the $15 price tag, you'll enjoy the overall sound quality.
What about the built-in speakers?
With externals speakers built into the headphone, you can simply switch to the speaker mode and avoid being aloof from a group or particular friend. As for audio, the output is louder than smartphone speakers but not as punchier as dedicated portable Bluetooth speakers.
Zoook Jazz Duo: Battery life and connectivity
On a single charge, we got close to 8-hours of music playback (at around 80% volume) and 1.5 hours of calling time in the headphone mode. In the speaker mode, the headset lasted for around 2 hours at 80-90% volume. The call quality was good and the on-ear fit did offer some passive noise reduction. Also, the Bluetooth pairing was quick and hassle-free.
Zoook Jazz Duo: Bonus features
The Jazz Duo can be used as a standalone FM and MP3 player by simply inserting a microSD card loaded with your favorite music. The headphone can be paired with the Zoook Duo app which allows you to switch easily between FM and MP3 player modes. There's also built-in AUX support which lets you stream songs even if the headphone is out of charge.
How things stack up?
If you're looking for a good, entry-level Bluetooth headphone, the Zoook Jazz Duo is a no brainer at Rs. 1,190. The sound profile is good enough for regular listening, battery life is great, and the built quality is satisfactory. And additional features like built-in speakers, FM and MP3 modes, as well as AUX support make it totally worth it. Overall score: 4/5.
