YouTube's new AI feature helps creators find next video idea
YouTube is currently experimenting with a new feature that integrates Google Gemini to aid creators in generating video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. The "Brainstorm with Gemini" feature was announced on the Creator Insider channel and is currently available to a limited group of creators. A YouTube representative told TechCrunch that user feedback will be crucial in determining whether this feature will be rolled out more widely.
Strategic move to encourage AI use
The integration of Google's AI into YouTube is seen as a strategic move by the streaming giant. This initiative aims to encourage creators to utilize its AI tools over alternatives like OpenAI's ChatGPT. The "Brainstorm with Gemini" feature bears similarities to another AI-powered content inspiration tool that YouTube began testing in May, which offers video topic ideas and generates an outline of talking points for creators.
How does the new feature work?
The new feature can be accessed by creators involved in the experiment, by entering a video idea into the search bar within YouTube Studio. They are then presented with two options: the inspiration tool and the "Brainstorm with Gemini" feature. The latter provides prompts, concepts, trend notes, and thumbnail suggestions based on Google Search activity, offering creators insights to refine their content and stay attuned to audience interests.
YouTube also testing feature to combat misinformation
In addition to the "Brainstorm with Gemini" feature, YouTube is also testing a feature aimed at curbing the spread of false information. This yet-to-be-named feature allows users to provide additional context and accuracy checks on potentially misleading content. It is currently in its beta phase with a limited number of eligible contributors testing it out.
