YouTube Music web now recognizes what you're playing on mobile
YouTube Music has introduced a new feature on its web application, allowing users to synchronize their music queue from their mobile devices. This update allows the web client's queue to persist even after tab closures and relaunches, and load the queue from a user's phone. The feature was initially tested in May but was temporarily withdrawn after a few weeks of testing.
Enhanced user experience with queue synchronization
The new feature enhances the user experience by remembering the last song played, although not the exact playback position. It also recalls the queue on relaunch, allowing users to quickly resume their music from where they left off. This is particularly useful for those who switch between listening to music on their phone and computer throughout the day.
Changes made on web are not reflected in phone app
The updated YouTube Music web app now recognizes what users are listening to on their mobile devices, including the upcoming songs in the queue. Interestingly, the web queue is replaced with the most recent one from a user's mobile device. However, this synchronization is only one-way; changes made on the web will not be reflected in the phone app.
Aesthetic changes and wider availability
In addition to functional improvements, YouTube Music has also updated its visual elements. The progress bar on the web client is no longer solid red but now fades into a pinkish hue toward the end. The queue synchronization feature has been gradually rolling out to users in recent days, although it may not be widely available yet.
