YouTube Music on iOS gets gradient redesign for 'Now Playing'
YouTube Music has introduced a gradient background redesign of its 'Now Playing' feature for iPhone users. This follows the same update that was rolled out on Android devices in December. The new design replaces the previous solid color background, which was based on album art, with a gradient that is lighter at the top and darker at the bottom.
Enhanced visibility and user interface
The redesign aims to enhance the visibility of the play/pause, shuffle, next/back, and repeat buttons, as well as the scrubber and carousel of buttons. It also modifies the presentation of 'Up Next,' 'Lyrics,' and 'Related' features. These features now appear as floating text buttons instead of being housed in a container. Despite the absence of a pull tab indicator, users can still swipe up to access their queue quickly.
Gradient redesign is now live
The gradient redesign is being widely rolled out with version 7.01 of YouTube Music for iPhone and iPad. Users who do not see the update yet are advised to close the application from multitasking and re-open it. However, it's worth noting that the iOS app still lacks a dual-column layout to match the Android experience.
