YouTube introduces branded QR codes to make ads more interactive
YouTube has announced significant updates at its 2024 Brandcast event that will impact both viewers and advertisers. The platform has unveiled branded QR codes, aimed at making ads more interactive. These QR codes, adorned with advertisers' logos, will be displayed alongside video advertisements, enabling viewers to conveniently access additional details about the promoted products or services. This addition aims to offer a smooth avenue for users to engage with brands.
YouTube Select Creator Takeovers program expansion
Another major update is the expansion of YouTube Select Creator Takeovers. The program allows brands to collaborate with top creators on YouTube, providing them promotional opportunities on the creators' channels. Initially launched as a pilot at the end of 2023, Creator Takeovers are now being rolled out more extensively, offering brands a unique advertising solution by capturing the full attention of creators' audiences.
YouTube TV to broadcast WNBA games
In addition, YouTube TV will broadcast Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Friday night games in partnership with Google and Scripps Sports. This service will be available to subscribers with the base plan starting May 31. The inclusion of WNBA coverage on YouTube TV represents a meaningful enhancement for sports enthusiasts, offering increased access to live sports and diversifying the range of content accessible on the platform.
