Xiaomi teases new TV in India, Redmi TV 70 expected
Xiaomi is set to launch a slew of new products in India including a new smart television. The company has shared a teaser, showing a bezel-less TV with "Smarter Living 2020" as caption and a launch date of September 17. The teaser doesn't reveal much, but we expect it to be Redmi TV 70 which went official in China last month. Here's more.
Redmi TV 70: Specs and features
The Redmi TV 70 is Xiaomi's maiden television offering under its new Redmi sub-brand. The TV set features a massive 70-inch 4K HDR display with ultra-slim bezels and matches it with Dolby Atmos-powered speakers and DTS HD audio support. Under the hood, it runs on Android TV OS-based PatchWall UI that we have already seen on a bunch of Mi-branded televisions.
Redmi's TV will offer 16GB of internal storage
The Redmi TV 70 is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Amlogic chipset, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for keeping apps, movies, and others stuff. As for connectivity, it offers support for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, two USB ports, three HDMI ports, AV input, and more. You will also get a Bluetooth-powered voice remote with the Redmi TV 70.
Redmi TV 70 costs approximately Rs. 38,000 in China
In China, the RedMi TV is priced at 3,799 yuan which is approximately Rs. 38,000. However, in India, the TV could launch at around Rs. 45,000-50,000 considering Xiaomi's biggest Mi TV in the country, the 55-inch 4X Pro, costs Rs. 39,999.
Xiaomi to take on OnePlus TV with Redmi TV 70?
Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi TV 70 to take on OnePlus which is expected to launch its first-ever television in India on September 26. Dubbed as OnePlus TV, it will feature a 55-inch 4K QLED screen with Dolby Vision and 8 speakers that will offer a combined audio output of 50W. It will also pack flagship internals and run custom version of Android TV.
