Xiaomi teases Redmi Y3 with 32MP selfie camera, launch imminent
As a successor to last year's selfie-centric Redmi Y2, Xiaomi is expected to launch Redmi Y3 in India soon. The company has teased the upcoming smartphone by highlighting 'Y', 'selfies' and '32' - all references to a Y-series handset with 32MP selfie camera. Recently, the Redmi Y3 was also spotted on Wi-Fi Alliance portal running Android Pie-based MIUI 10. Here's everything to know.

Redmi Y3: At a glance
While we know that Redmi Y3 is real and coming soon, we don't know much about its design. However, given the fact that Xiaomi is revamping its mid-range devices with all-glass bodies and Dot notch displays, we expect Redmi Y3 to get some features of the recently launched Redmi Note 7 series. Similarly, we also expect to see a full-HD+ screen.
Redmi Y3 will offer a 32MP selfie camera
Given the rather explicit teaser, we know Redmi Y3 will offer a 32MP selfie camera. With this in-trend feature, the phone will join the likes of Vivo V15, Vivo 15 Pro, Huawei P30 Pro, and P30 Lite that are already available in India. On the back, the least we can expect is a dual camera setup with improved AI-based photography features.
Under the hood
Internally, the Redmi Y3 should come as an incremental upgrade over its predecessor. Hence, considering that the Redmi Y2 was backed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, we can expect to see Snapdragon 660 on the upcoming Redmi Y3. Further, it may offer up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage options.
Redmi Y3 should launch under Rs. 15,000
Redmi Y2 was launched in India last June at a starting price of Rs. 9,999. However, if Xiaomi is to upgrade the phone with a new design, an impressive 32MP selfie snapper, and improved internals, we can expect Redmi Y3 to launch under Rs. 15,000.
