Poco F2 spotted on Geekbench with Android Q, Snapdragon 855
As the successor to the Poco F1, Xiaomi is working to launch Poco F2 in India soon. In the latest development, the flagship phone has been spotted on processor benchmarking site Geekbench, revealing the presence of Snapdragon 855 chipset and Android Q support. However, details about Poco F2's design or other parameters still remain unknown. Here's more to know.
Firstly, what is Geekbench and Geekbench's scores?
Geekbench is a cross-platform processor benchmark platform which grades processors on their single-core and multi-core performances. While calculating multi-core scores, Geekbench runs multiple streams of instructions simultaneously per core and reports an aggregate score. With single-core scores, the same process is applied but on a single core. Notably, the quicker a CPU completes the instructions, the higher is its Geekbench score.
Here's how Poco F2 performed on Geekbench
The Poco F2 recently appeared on Geekbench with a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 4GB of RAM and Android Q operating system. Looking at the 4GB RAM capacity, this could be a base variant and we expect Xiaomi to offer higher RAM variants as well. In terms of performance, the Poco F2 scored 1,776 points in single-core tests and 6,097 in multi-core tests.
Concerns around this Geekbench listing
Given Poco F1's base model comes with 6GB of RAM, it is rather odd to see a 4GB RAM variant on its successor, the Poco F2. Hence, this could either be a fake listing or Xiaomi was just testing some parameters. Further, the scores for a Snapdragon 855 are indeed quite low and it could be because the device was running a beta OS.
Xiaomi is also readying a "Lite" model of Poco F2
According to reports, Xiaomi is also working on a lower-cost model of its high-end Poco phone. Dubbed as Poco F2 Lite, the phone is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4GB of RAM.
