Xiaomi launches Mi Notebook Air with Intel Core i5 processor
As an upgrade to the existing 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air, Xiaomi has launched a new variant with improved internals. The new Mi Notebook Air comes with a full-HD display, Intel Core i5 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage and support for 4G connectivity. In China, the laptop is priced at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 40,500). Here's our roundup.
Mi Notebook Air: At a glance
Touted as the MacBook Air clone, the Mi Notebook Air features an aluminum body, narrow bezel design, glass trackpad, and a backlit keyboard. In terms of dimensions, the laptop is just 12.9 mm thick and weighs around 1 kg. Further, Mi Notebook Air sports a 12.5-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) display with 300nits peak brightness and 16:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood
The Mi Notebook Air is powered by the 7th-generation Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor, coupled with Intel HD Graphics 615, upto 4GB RAM, and 256GB SSD storage. Moreover, the laptop also supports storage expansion by means of another hard drive. The device runs on Windows 10 Home Edition and offers up to eight hours of battery life on a single charge.
Connectivity options on the Mi Notebook Air
In terms of connectivity, the Mi Notebook Air comes with support for a USB Type-C port, USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop also supports Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, and 4G connectivity among other standard options. Up front, it offers a rather unimpressive 1MP web camera which supports 720p video calling.
Pricing and availability
The 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air with Intel Core i5 chipset is priced at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 40,500). It is currently available for pre-ordering on Mi.com and JD.com at a token amount of about Rs. 1,000. Unfortunately, there is no information about the laptop's availability in India or any other market outside of China.
