Leak reveals specifications of Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 foldable phone
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its next foldable handset, the Mi MIX Fold 2. In the latest development, specifications of the smartphone have surfaced online, courtesy of Digital Chat Station. As per the leak, it will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chip, a 120Hz internal display, and a better crease. It may go official in the second half of this year.
Why does this story matter?
Although a market leader, Xiaomi has been a relatively quiet player in the foldable segment. After its first foldable last March, it hasn't launched any such device. Now, reports suggest that a new foldable from the Xiaomi stable is getting ready. Dubbed the Mi MIX Fold 2, it is expected to offer an incremental improvement over its predecessor, and not an overhaul.
The smartphone will feature a 120Hz LTPO display
Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2 will feature a book-like inward folding design with a "slightly better" crease than its predecessor. It will offer stylus support. The handset will bear a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ cover display with a 60Hz refresh rate and an 8.0-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED foldable screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and DC dimming.
It will sport a 108MP main camera
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2 is likely to be equipped with a triple rear camera unit, including a 108MP main shooter and two unspecified sensors.
It will house a 5,000mAh battery
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2 will be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus SoC that is based on TSMC's 4nm manufacturing platform. Under the hood, it should boot Android 12-based MIUI 13 and house a 5,000mAh battery that may support 120W fast-charging. For connectivity, the handset will offer support for 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6, and a Type-C port.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2: Availability
Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2 is expected to be available in the second half of 2022. It is unclear whether the company will launch the phone outside China or not since its predecessor never made it to the other markets.
