Like Vivo, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 gets pop-up selfie camera
In the race to offer a truly all-screen smartphone, the only hurdle is the front camera and other essential sensors. And, the notch is not a solution but a comprise. Hence, companies like OPPO and Vivo innovated and overcame the limitation by presenting motorized pop-up front cameras. Now, Xiaomi seems to have gone that same route for its Mi Mix 3 smartphone. Here's more.
Fresh Mi Mix 3 leaks give away phone's design
Xiaomi is working to launch the successor of Mi Mix 2 or rather Mi Mix 2S in the form of Mi Mix 3. According to leaked images, Mi Mix 3 will take the Mix 2/2S design a step further to be truly all-screen.
Mi Mix 3: At a glance
According to the leaked renders, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will have a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessors, thanks to an edge-to-edge notch-less display and the absence of a bottom bezel or chin. On the rear, the renders suggest the Mi Mix 3 will have a vertically positioned iPhone X-like dual lens setup, similar to what we have seen on Xiaomi Mi 8.
Xiaomi drops the notch for a pop-up selfie camera
Xiaomi has opted for a motorized pop-up selfie camera module which we have earlier seen on the Vivo Nex. However, the Mix Mix 3 front camera module will also pack an LED flash - something the Vivo Nex's pop-up camera missed. Reportedly, Xiaomi had filed for a patent for this front camera setup way back in 2015.
Under the hood
While not much is out about the Mi Mix 3, it's a safe bet to say that the phone will feature 2018's flagship processor - the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Moreover, the leaked renders also hint at an in-display fingerprint sensor which is again something Xiaomi has already achieved and offered in Mi 8.
