Xiaomi, Google working on the next Android One smartphone: Reports
Tech giant Google and Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi are reportedly collaborating to build the next Android One device. The smartphone would be based on Xiaomi's Mi 5X, which was launched last month in China. The rumored specs and features of Mi A1
The new device Xiaomi Mi A1 is likely to have a 5.5-inch FHD 1080p display. It is expected to be the first Android One dual-camera phone with a Snapdragon 625 processor. Listing on Indonesia's certification agency
Reports claim a recent listing on Indonesian telecom certification agency, POSTEL, put out a Xiaomi device that doesn't run on MIUI, ruling out that it isn't Mi 5X. The description of the alleged smartphone shows it's a dual-SIM device running on stock Android from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi launches dual-camera Mi 5X
Xiaomi launched the Mi 5X mid-range smartphone in China in July. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The 5.5-inch metal unibody device comes with a 12MP dual rear camera setup and 5MP front camera. It runs on the much-anticipated MIUI 9 and has a 3,080mAh battery. Its launch in India is not confirmed yet.
Software and hardware of the new device
An Indonesian blog Krispitech claims that Google would take care of the software of the alleged new Android One smartphone and roll them out in quick time. Xiaomi would work on incorporating powerful hardware in the device while also making it cost-effective.
The collaboration between Google and Xiaomi
The partnership between Google and Xiaomi would benefit both the companies. The collaboration would help Xiaomi, known for its budget devices, to penetrate deep into the smartphone market in India. The tie-up with one of the most popular smartphone vendors would help Google create excitement and hype around Android One. However, there has been no official confirmation of the partnership from these companies yet.
