Xiaomi Mi8 to launch on May 31: Specs, price leaked
Xiaomi will unveil its 8th-anniversary edition smartphone, the Mi 8, on May 31 in China. In the latest image leak, reportedly of a presentation by Xiaomi, the key specifications of the phone such as - Snapdragon 845 processor, an in-display fingerprint sensor, 3D facial sensing, upto 8GB of RAM and the price details - have been revealed. What do we know about the Mi 8?
Mi 8 will feature a 6.01-inch display with an in-display fingerprint reader and run Android Oreo-based MIUI. The phone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. The Mi 8 will also offer an AI camera with 2x optical zoom, and a structured light 3D module for facial scanning - like Apple's Face ID.
Hands-on images reveal Mi 8 design
On the rear, the smartphone is seen with a transparent glass panel, and a vertically-positioned dual camera setup - like iPhone X's camera module with flash in between the two lenses. Up front, the phone gets a notch-based display, with volume and power button seen on the right side. Notably, the notch is wider and resembles the one we have seen on iPhone X.
Xiaomi presentation image leak reveals Mi 8's pricing
According to the presentation slide, the Mi 8 will come in two pairings - 6GB RAM/64GB storage which will cost CNY 2,799 (approx. Rs. 29,900) and an 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant which will be priced at CNY 3,199 (roughly Rs. 34,200).
