#LeakPeek: Alleged dual-folding Xiaomi phone appears in hands-on video
More than a month ago, Samsung demonstrated the future of big-screen devices by giving a glimpse of its foldable phone. The tablet-like device featured a 7.3-inch display and folded like a book, transitioning into a secondary 4.5-inch display. But now, that concept already appears old because an 'outfolding' device has just been spotted, one that is said to be developed by Xiaomi. Take a look!
Dual-folding tablet appears online
Just recently, famous tipster Evan Blass shared a hands-on video of a tablet-like device. It is said to be made by Xiaomi, but the exact make or design isn't clearly visible in the dimly-lit clip. However, what is visible is its massive display folding backward - from the left and right side - to transform a tablet-sized panel into a regular phone.
Here's the hands-on clip
Both sides fold seamlessly
In the clip, both left and right sides of the panel appear to fold backward seamlessly - a fact that suggests foldable display technology is surely advancing at a very rapid pace.
Still, the element of doubt remains
Though questions remain on the authenticity of the video, the interface shown looks very similar to Xiaomi's MIUI. To recall, the Chinese giant was reported to be working on an 'outfolding' phone in July last year. ET News' sources had claimed it plans to release the foldable phone sometime in 2019, but as of now, there's no telling if this is the same device.
Also, specs and capabilities remain unclear
It is also important to note that apart from the folding mechanism, we don't know anything about this device, including its specs, Android version, and working of the camera (when the display would fold).
