Redmi Mi TV 4: World's thinnest TV, now in India
Xiaomi, along with its latest offerings, namely the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, has also launched its first-ever smart television in India. Titled Mi TV 4, it is a wowing successor to the Mi TV 4A launched last July. With stunning looks and an unbelievable price tag, it is here to attract eyes and lighten pockets - all in good faith.
Beauty lies in the details: Thinner than the thinnest
As the world's thinnest TV, measuring at just 4.99 millimeters, the Mi LED Smart TV 4 features a 'frameless' 55-inch 4K HDR display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 178-degree viewing angle. Coupled with Dolby Audio and DTS HD (that's a codec), the TV has two 8W speakers and integrated Mi TV bar with 10 front speakers, 2 rear speakers and a subwoofer.
What are the other specifications?
Mi TV 4 comes with Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU which is clocked at 1.8GHz along with a Mali T-830 image processor, 2 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. Also featuring is an AI based recommendations UI called PatchWall - a skin on top of the Android OS. The LED panels in all the Mi TV 4s are either Samsung or LG display panels.
Xiaomi's in-house AI: Meet Patchwall
Patchwall is Xiaomi's in-house deep learning AI recommendations UI which is embedded as a skin into the Android OS. So essentially, Patchwall will overtime understand your preferences and automatically classify content as personalized suggestions.
Fancy TV, Functional Accessories
To offer a seamless Smart TV and Set-top-box (STB) experience, Xiaomi has offered Mi IR cable that plugs into the TV and wirelessly connects to the STB to stream your favorite content. Along with this comes Mi's bluetooth remote that allows you to control the STB without even pointing at it. While the remote comes free, Mi IR cable is priced at Rs 299.
Good stuff galore: Unlimited entertainment
TV is all about entertainment and there's plenty being offered. The Mi TV 4 will come with content from Hotstar, ALT Balaji, Sony Liv, Voot, Hungama Play, TVF etc. with 80 per cent of the content being free. In addition, 3,500 DTH operators in India will be supported. And, the 'transparent' stand will make the TV look like it's floating in the air.
Release, price and other stuff
Mi TV 4 will go on sale on February 22 via Mi.com, Mi Home stores and Flipkart at just Rs 39,999 (you read that correctly!) Also, apart from over 5,00,000 hours of content, the TV will support 15 Indian languages for content while the system will offer support for 13 languages.
