Xiaomi 12 Ultra tipped to offer 120W fast-charging
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its top-end handset, the 12 Ultra. In the latest development, the battery and charging specifications of the phone have surfaced online, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station. The company's flagship 12 series was introduced in China last December without the Ultra variant. It is rumored to make its debut sometime in late February or early March.
Why does this story matter?
The 12 Ultra will be the most advanced smartphone ever from Xiaomi. It will join the vanilla 12, 12X, and 12 Pro models. Leaks have been rife about the handset, but the company has kept mum about its existence. Considering how other 12 series handsets are yet to become available globally, it might take a while before we see the 12 Ultra.
The handset will feature a 2K display with HDR10+ support
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature a punch-hole display, slim bezels, curved edges, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It could have a Leica-branded circular camera unit on the rear. The handset may bear a 6.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display with 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is also likely to have IP68 water resistance.
It will flaunt a periscope lens with 5x optical zoom
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is said to flaunt a Leica-branded triple rear camera module, comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 48MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom. Up front, it may have a 32MP selfie shooter.
A Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip will fuel the device
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Under the hood, it will boot Android 12-based MIUI 13 and house a 4,860mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless fast-charging support. For connectivity, the handset should support 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a Type-C port.
Xiaomi 12 Ultra: Pricing and availability
The official pricing and availability details of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be announced at the time of its launch. However, going by the leaked specifications, we expect it to cost around Rs. 70,000 in India.
