Xbox Live goes down, leaving games inaccessible for hours
A few hours ago, Xbox Live, Microsoft's famous online gaming and media delivery service, went down. The platform became inaccessible for a number of users, locking them completely out of their games with an error message. The issue created major problems for players around the globe and still remains existent. Here's everything you need to know about it.
What happened to Xbox Live
According to media reports, the Xbox Live outage, which happens very rarely, began at around 5 pm ET or 2:30 am IST. The issue prevented digital games stored in player libraries from launching and displayed an error message noting that 'something went wrong'. No matter how many times one tried, the glitch kept quickly stopping the game and displaying the same error message.

Not everyone has been impacted
Even after more than six hours, the issue still persists for a number of Xbox Live players. But, here's the thing, a number of users also remain unaffected. They're being able to launch and play their games, unlike thousands of users who're witnessing the issue and reporting the same in dozens of Reddit threads and Twitter complaints.
Reason behind outage remains unknown
So far, neither Microsoft nor the Xbox teams have detailed what has gone wrong with the service and when it will be fully restored. The live service status page for Xbox Live notes 'Limited' functionality for 'Xbox One : My games & apps' and 'TV, Music and Video' but doesn't clearly state the issue at hand.
Here's what Xbox support said
"We've heard from our investigative teams that there has been an improvement, however things are still being worked on," Xbox Support stated on Twitter, but didn't specify how long affected players would have to deal with the issue.
