Some iPad Pros are bent, but Apple says it's normal
Amid complaints of iPad Pros developing a bend, Apple has confirmed that some units of the new device might come slightly bent out-of-the-box. The Cupertino giant told The Verge this bend is the result of its manufacturing process but has reassured customers that the cosmetic issue won't grow big or affect the tablet's performance in any way. Here's more on the matter.
Small bent in fresh units - Not so 'Apple'
According to Apple, the bend forms from the cooling process involving metal and plastic components of the new iPads. It can appear on the aluminum chassis of both 11-inch and 12.9-inch models of the device. Either way, Apple is not considering this issue as a defect, which is pretty surprising to see from a company that is known to deliver immaculately crafted products.
Prices of 2018 iPad Pros
The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at Rs. 71,900 (Wi-Fi, 64GB) and goes up to Rs. 1,53,900 (Wi-Fi, Cellular, 1TB), while the 12.9-inch model starts at Rs. 89,000 (Wi-Fi, 64GB) and goes up to a whopping Rs. 1,71,900 (Wi-Fi, Cellular, 1TB).
Now, concerns remain over the iPad Pros
The confirmation from Apple means that your brand new, and heavily priced, iPad Pro unit could come with a small bend out of the box. Not to mention, some users have also reported on social media and MacRumors forums that their iPad Pros developed a small bent or curve over time, even when the units were handled with care.
What can you do in such cases?
If you've got a bent iPad Pro unit, we recommend returning or exchanging it for another one from the Apple Store. The company gives customers a 14-day-window for exchange or return under its policy, but it remains unclear if it would offer a longer window for those reporting cases of a bend developing over time.
What Apple says about structural integrity concerns?
Apple told The Verge that the concerns over the structural integrity of the new iPad Pros are unfounded. It even noted that the return rate for the device has not been revised.
