PUBG banned this player for 10 years: Here's why
The widespread popularity of PUBG has made the game a breeding ground for cheaters. They employ different hacks/tricks to win battle royale matches and are constantly being chased by the developers of the title - Tencent and PUBG Corp. In one such case of cheating-and-chasing, a PUBG Mobile player has been banned for a period of 10 years. Here's what the player did.
Player used connection error trick to cheat game
The player in question, as the companies explained, appeared to play his game fair and square in the beginning. However, as the match progressed, the person logged in on a second device to fake a poor connection. This tricked PUBG's system into believing that the player was experiencing connectivity issues and gave the player enough time to use a cheat and kill other opponents.
However, PUBG's team noted that something was amiss
The player used the fake connection window to quickly kill enemies through the second phone and then switched back to their original phone, as if everything was normal. The trick triggered a wave of reports but when PUBG's team looked at the gameplay, everything seemed fine. It was only later a developer noted that something was amiss at the end of the player's matches.
Then, the player was banned for 10 years
After discovering the hack, which didn't use any specialized tool, PUBG's team sent a directional monitoring code to the player's second device to see if it was being used with a cheat. The code confirmed the assumption, post which the team took the decision to ban the sly player from playing PUBG Mobile for a period of 10 years.
Player built an uproar to get ban reversed
The cheating player, who had featured on PUBG charts in the past, tried building an uproar on social media to pin the entire matter on PUBG developers. They claimed that the Chinese company banned their account - which had tens of thousands of dollars invested - without any reason. However, team PUBG didn't budge on the matter and denied reversing the ban.
Over 8,000 cheating players are banned every day
PUBG developers caught this player as part of its Project Ban Pan - a technology-driven effort to carefully look into gameplays and user reports to get hold of cheating players. The project was launched just recently but is already doing wonders, helping PUBG Corp. and Tencent catch and ban as many as 8,000 cheating players every single day.
95% violations punished through real-time monitoring
"Approximately 95% of violations are punished by real-time banning by security system automatically, while players can also report any suspicions to build a larger software database, which also helps with imposing offline punishment," Tencent said in a statement.
