WhatsApp will stop working on these smartphones after 31st Dec
What's the story
Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp will withdraw support for a number of dated smartphones at the end of the year.
WhatsApp will not be usable on Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10, Windows Phone 8.0 and older after 31st December 2017.
The app will also stop working on the Nokia S40 and Android versions 2.3.7 and older after 31st December, 2018, and February 1st, 2020 respectively.
Reasons
Reasons for withdrawing support for older operating systems
The primary reason for stopping support for older operating systems is because they no longer have the capability to support WhatsApp's future development.
However, most of the aforementioned devices are outdated, and many of them have not been commercially available for a while now.
However, in case you're an owner of an affected device, it's highly unlikely that WhatsApp will run on it post-2017.
