WhatsApp recently introduced a new feature called "video notes," allowing users to easily share short videos within individual or group chats. With this tool, you can quickly record and send videos up to 60 seconds long directly from your conversation. Open the chat where you want to send the video note and press and hold the camera icon next to the text field. Starting recording your message once the timer begins counting down. With the other hand, you can switch between your phone's front and back cameras before or during recording. Once done, lifting your finger from the camera button automatically sends it.

WhatsApp's video notes feature also comes with a lock mode for hands-free recording. To activate this, users have to press and hold the camera icon next to the text field in the chat and slide upwards to lock it. While in lock mode, you can flip the camera by tapping on it, stop or delete their recording with a tap, or send their note by tapping send icon.

Viewing video notes on WhatsApp

When a user gets a video note, it shows up as a muted preview that loops automatically three times. Tapping on the preview, expands the video note and plays it with audio from the beginning. You can pause the video by tapping it or scrolling away, and resume playback with another tap. This user-friendly design makes the experience of watching video notes on WhatsApp even better.

How to see who's watched your video note

To check if your video note has been viewed, press and hold the sent video, then tap "More options" followed by "Info." You'll find a list of recipients who have played the video under "Played by."
