You can now use filters, backgrounds during WhatsApp video calls
Popular messaging app WhatsApp just dropped some cool new features to make your video calls even better. Announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the latest update brings in filters and backgrounds for your video calls. Now, you can jazz up your chats by applying all sorts of facial filters and interactive effects while you're talking.
Background editing tool for distraction-free conversations
The latest update also brings a background editing tool for video calls. You can either blur out any distractions or pick from a bunch of default backgrounds that WhatsApp offers. It's all about giving you more control over your virtual space, and making your video calls smoother and more personalized.
A variety of filters and backgrounds to choose from
WhatsApp's latest filters include Warm, Black & White, Light leak, Cool, Dreamy, Prism light, Fisheye, Frosted glass, Vintage TV, and Duo tone. As for backgrounds, you get options such as Blur, Living room, Office Cafe, Pebbles, Foodie, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Celebration, and Forest. These features are designed to make your video calls more fun, by letting you match your mood or the vibe of the chat with some cool visual effects.
Additional facilities to enhance visual experience
WhatsApp has rolled out two more features: Touch Up and Low Light. The Touch Up feature is designed to naturally smooth users' appearance during video calls, while the Low Light facility brightens dim environments for better visibility.
How to access these new features?
To check out these features during a video call, users have to tap on the effects icon in the top right corner of their screen. This interface makes it easy to pick and switch between various backgrounds and filters. Right now, it's available to some users who have the latest WhatsApp updates for Android from the Google Play Store and for iOS from the App Store. It'll be rolling out to more people in the coming weeks.
