WhatsApp will let you add 3 people in group video-calls
WhatsApp is all set to allow users to add up to three people in a video call. The instant messaging app is currently testing the new group video calling feature on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.18.39, according to reports. The company is expected to roll out the update to all Android devices in 2018 itself. Here is more on it.
Four people will talk over a single WhatsApp video call
Currently, users can only talk to one person on a WhatsApp video call. But soon, a total of four people will be able to participate in a single conference call over WhatsApp. According to reports, once the feature is live, users will start seeing an 'Add Person' option in the top right corner of the calling screen while already being on a video call.
The feature will enable WhatsApp to compete with Skype
The much-awaited feature is the most basic for bringing the Facebook-owned chat app to the level of other video calling apps like Google Duo or Skype. The group video calling feature will also increase the usage of WhatsApp in all communication spheres. Notably, Facebook already provides a group video calling option on its Messenger platform.
Will the feature also work with voice calls?
There is no information on whether this feature will work with voice calls as well, like how it happens on Hike Messenger. However, in October last year, a group voice calling feature was spotted on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.17.70.
