WhatsApp gets payments through QR code, advanced GIF search feature
WhatsApp has unveiled the capability of sending payments on the app by scanning QR codes. Separately, it has also rolled out an advanced GIF search feature in its new beta update. Beta testers can get their hands on the update through the Google Play Beta Program. The features have been rolled out to WhatsApp version 2.18.93.
Now send money on WhatsApp by scanning QR codes
WhatsApp has also updated its payments feature to add a new QR code functionality into it (yes, much like Paytm). Android beta users will now be able to send money through the chat app using QR codes. Go to Payments> New Payments> QR Code. Just scan the code, enter the amount payable and your UPI PIN for verification, and you're done.
GIFs will be sorted into categories like LOL, Sad, Dancing
The new feature sorts GIFs into broad categories. Currently, testers can access GIFs supported in the categories of Trending, LOL, Love, Sad, Happy and Dancing. According to reports, WhatsApp can very well add more categories to the list once the update is rolled out to all the users. This will make searching for different GIFs seamless and easy.
You will also be able to bookmark GIFs
The advanced GIF search feature will also allow users to star GIFs. This means that users will be able to bookmark the GIFs they like or frequently use. The feature will help them save their favorite GIFs and then quickly access them when required.
The feature is still being refined
However, according to reports, the new feature is currently being refined and is thus left disabled by WhatsApp developers. This means that even several beta testers who have updated to version 2.18.93 of WhatsApp might not be able to access advanced GIF search immediately. The feature should get stable in the beta update soon.
