WhatsApp will replace your green verification badge with blue
WhatsApp, the widely used messaging application, is planning to replace its existing green verification checkmarks for businesses and channels with blue ones. The change was first reported by WABetaInfo and is currently available for beta testers on both Android and iOS platforms. This modification aims to maintain a consistent verification identity across all Meta platforms.
Change aligns with other Meta platforms
The latest move by WhatsApp is designed to align itself with other Meta platforms like Instagram and Threads, where a blue checkmark symbolizes verification status. WABetaInfo also suggested that the change could be linked to the launch of Meta Verified for businesses in June, which introduced paid verification plans for businesses.
Blue checkmark currently available in beta release
Currently, the blue verified checkmark is only available in the beta release for iOS user via TestFlight app. However, it is expected to be widely available in the coming months. It's important to note that this feature is not applicable to individuals users. In case you want to check eligibility for Meta Verified for your business account, navigate to Settings or Business Tools inside the WhatsApp Business app, then tap Meta Verified.
