WhatsApp will now let you 'like' status updates from contacts
WhatsApp is set to introduce a new feature that will allow users to 'like' status updates posted by their contacts. This upcoming addition, currently being tested with public beta testers, aims to offer a simple and efficient way for users to express their appreciation for shared content. The functionality is similar to the one used for liking stories on Instagram.
How will the new feature work?
The new feature will be accessible when viewing a status update. Users can react to a status using the heart emoji 'like' button located at the bottom left of the screen, similar to Instagram's interface. Once a status is liked, the poster will receive a notification about it. Additionally, users can see who has liked their status from their views list.
'Like' offers a new way to connect
The upcoming 'like' feature on WhatsApp is expected to become popular among users, similar to Instagram story likes. It offers a new way for people to connect with each other, especially those they might not typically message or respond to via statuses. Importantly, a status like won't appear in chat threads, keeping them free from clutter and ensuring that liking a status doesn't push less important conversations above more crucial ones.
