WhatsApp getting fingerprint security, ability to send 30 audio messages
WhatsApp for Android is getting advanced biometric security as well as the ability to send up to 30 audio messages at once. The capabilities, which are yet to be released, will boost media sharing habits on the messaging platform, letting users share more music with the element of safety. They were spotted on WhatsApp's recent beta versions. Here's more on the features.
How users will be able to send 30 audio files?
Just recently, tipster WABetaInfo reported on the development of a redesigned interface for sharing audio files on WhatsApp. The new section, unlike the current one, features more 'WhatsApp-like elements' and lets users select multiple audio files, going up to 30. As of now, users can only select a single audio file at once, so naturally, this will be a major improvement.
Audio file previews to be offered
WhatsApp's current audio-sharing interface plays a file once you select it, but the new interface will bring much-improved preview capabilities. Users will see a 'play button' right next to every audio file to play or pause it as per their needs. Plus, the list will also display album art associated with the files, if they'll have any.
Also, all your chats will be fingerprint protected
Along with audio sharing, WABetaInfo reported on the development of biometric security for protecting all your WhatsApp chats. The feature, accessible from Settings > Account > Privacy, will lock the messaging platform with your fingerprint. Meaning, nobody but you would be able to open the app once the lock is enabled. Notably, similar Face ID, Touch ID-based feature have been seen on iOS too.
When these features are rolling out?
Both these features have been spotted on WhatsApp beta (v2.19.1 and v2.19.3) for Android. However, it is worth noting that none of the capabilities are working on our test device - a fact that suggests they would be enabled with a future update. Once that happens, we could expect a stable public release from the company.
WhatsApp has been pushing some key upgrades lately
The new capabilities add to the list of recent useful features introduced by WhatsApp. This includes the ability to watch YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram videos while chatting, replying privately on groups, or sending customized stickers.
