WhatsApp Splash Screen feature spotted in Android beta version
WhatsApp is constantly bringing new features to its messaging platform and the latest addition is a Splash Screen feature. The new feature has been spotted in the latest Android beta version, after featuring in the WhatsApp for Business beta app a few days ago. The Splash Screen feature is basically a welcome screen for the users of the app. Here's all about it.
A Light Splash Screen feature spotted by WABetaInfo
WhatsApp recently submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.19.297. In this version of the Android app, WhatsApp-focused blog WABetaInfo has discovered a new Light Splash Screen feature with a WhatsApp logo plastered on a white background. Essentially, it is like a welcome screen that shows up when the app loads for the first time.
There's also a Dark Splash Screen
The WhatsApp tracker has also spotted a Dark Splash Screen feature. However, the blog notes that this feature hasn't been enabled for beta users yet. The dark welcome screen is most likely a part of the Dark Mode that is currently being tested by WhatsApp.
You can try out the new feature for yourself
It has been confirmed that the new Splash Screen feature is available for Android beta users. Hence, if you want to try it out, you can sideload the beta version of the app via APKMirror. There is also an official way to enlist yourself as a beta tester under WhatsApp Google Play beta program but the app is currently not accepting any more testers.
Other new WhatsApp features you should be excited about
Alongside the much-awaited Dark mode, WhatsApp is also bringing several new features that'll enhance your messaging experience. There are self-disappearing messages that self-destruct after a set period of time, a new Boomerang feature for creating reverse-looped short videos, and the ability to hide muted statuses.
