This new WhatsApp feature will make photo-sharing faster: Here's how
According to reports, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that will make photo-sharing faster on the messaging app. This feature, dubbed as "Predictive Upload," is reportedly being rolled out on the WhatsApp for iOS stable version 2.18.61 and on WhatsApp for Android version 2.18.156. As always, the feature will be released in a phased manner. Here's how it works.
Here's how the feature will work
With this feature, WhatsApp will now be able to predict when a photograph is going to be sent; it will pre-load those photos to its server in advance for much faster delivery. More importantly, the feature works for both single and multiple photos but only for non-edited pics. Further, photo upload and delivery will obviously depend on your data connection speed.
How to check if you have received Predictive Upload feature?
To use this feature, select and attach multiple photos from the Camera Roll/Gallery. Now tap on Done/OK and in a few seconds, the photos will get uploaded to the WhatsApp server. Now tap 'Send' and you'll see your photos instantly gaining a single grey tick, which means they have been uploaded on the servers and will be immediately sent to the recipient.
The feature isn't available for all
To confirm if you've received this feature, follow the previous steps and check if the clock symbol changes instantaneously or is not visible at all. Hence, if you can see the clock symbol, you don't have the Predicted Upload feature just yet.
