WhatsApp rolls out new iOS update for enhanced photo sharing
Meta-owned WhatsApp has released a new update, version 24.7.75, specifically for its iOS users. This update is now available for download on the App Store. The highlight of this firmware is a feature that allows users to access their photo library swiftly, thereby simplifying the process of sharing media on the platform. Let us see how it works.
Swift access to photo library: How it works
To use this new feature, users simply need to long-press the attach button inside the chat bar. This action eliminates an additional step previously required to navigate to the photo library. Interestingly, this feature was not listed in the app's official changelog on the App Store, but has been confirmed as accessible for all users.
New link privacy facility under testing
In addition to the photo library access, WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new link privacy feature with its beta testers. This feature allows users to disable image previews when sharing URLs on the platform, preventing explicit information related to the link from being revealed in chats. Users can find this option under "Privacy" > "Advanced" in WhatsApp's settings menu.
Upcoming video-viewing feature in WhatsApp
WhatsApp is also working on a new video-viewing feature within the app. This feature will enable users to see videos shared among contacts, in a picture-in-picture segment inside the app itself. However, this feature is currently under development and not yet ready for rollout, even to beta testers.
