How to set up and use WhatsApp Pay in India
WhatsApp, has finally gotten necessary approvals from regulators in India for a phased roll-out. The Facebook-owned messaging app is using the country's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) framework to enable real-time money transfer. So, if you are in India, you can try the new service to send or receive money right within the app. Here's how.
Set up payments on WhatsApp (For Android)
Since WhatsApp Pay works on UPI, just make sure the number you use on the messaging app is registered with your bank account. You don't necessarily need to create a UPI ID with your bank as WhatsApp will do the same for you. To get started, open WhatsApp, tap on menu (three-dots icon), and then on Payments.
Not everyone will see the Payments option
WhatsApp Pay is being rolled out in a phased manner and not everyone will see the Payments options just yet. In case you are the unfortunate one, you will have to wait until the service arrives for your number.
