WhatsApp now permits opening 'view once' media on linked devices
What's the story
WhatsApp has added a new feature in its latest beta update for Android, version 2.25.3.7, available via Google Play Beta Program.
The update brings the ability to see 'view once' media on linked devices, a feature currently available to select testers but will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
To note, the 'view once' feature was first introduced last year.
Feature details
WhatsApp's 'view once' feature: A closer look
The 'view once' feature guarantees voice messages stay private and can only be heard once by the recipient, stopping them from being shared, saved, forwarded or even recorded.
Earlier, WhatsApp had limited the sending and viewing of photos/videos set to view once on linked devices.
The restriction applied to all companion devices, including desktops. However, with the latest update for Android beta testers, you can open such media on your linked devices as well.
User convenience
Addressing limitations and enhancing user experience
The latest update overcomes past restrictions by letting users open 'view once' photos, videos, and voice messages on their linked devices.
This change makes the feature a lot more convenient, particularly for those who keep switching between devices during the day.
You won't have to go back to your primary device every time you get a 'view once' image, video or voice note, making this feature more useful and efficient.
