WhatsApp Android beta gets 'Mute' button for notifications panel
What's the story
Following reports that WhatsApp was testing two new features to be incorporated into the notifications panel, the Facebook-owned messaging service has now rolled out the 'Mute' option on the notification panel for all users having the latest WhatsApp beta version on their Android devices.
The latest beta version can be availed via the Google Play beta programme.
Here's more.
Details
The Mute button appears after receiving large numbers of messages
While the 'Mute' option has been made available for all beta testers, the 'Mark as Read' button for the notification panel hasn't been released yet.
The 'Mute' button, obviously, allows a user to mute notifications from a chat.
However, the 'Mute' button for the notification panel appears only when a user receives more than 51 messages from a single chat.
Stickers
WhatsApp is also reportedly launching a stickers feature soon
WhatsApp also recently made the news for introducing a preview of its upcoming stickers feature for the beta version 2.18.218.
The upcoming stickers feature was first announced in May during Facebook's F8 developers conference.
While WhatsApp hasn't announced a release date yet for stickers, it's evident that a launch is planned sometime soon.
