WhatsApp's latest iOS upgrade gets CarPlay integration feature
WhatsApp has just released its latest update for iOS and it comes with some handy new features. WhatsApp version 2.18.20 not only adds minor interface improvements, but also supports CarPlay devices now, so users can stay connected via WhatsApp on the move. Version 2.18.20 has already been submitted by WhatsApp and is now available on the Apple App Store.
But, CarPlay hasn't really kicked off due to less apps
Since its introduction in 2014, CarPlay hasn't really grown at a spectacular rate, mostly owing to a lack of CarPlay-compatible apps. CarPlay is a technology by Apple which brings substantial part of the iPhone experience on to a car's display panel so users can access calls, messages, music, and Siri among other services hands-free. CarPlay devices can be in-built, or obtained separately from retailers.
WhatsApp becomes first major third-party app to support CarPlay
With the update, WhatsApp becomes the first major third-party app to support Apple's CarPlay service. CarPlay support allows users to access WhatsApp, use Siri to read out new notifications or old conversations, and ask Siri to send dictated messages to specific contacts, all hands-free. Apple can hope that WhatsApp's entry will encourage more apps to provide CarPlay support.
WhatsApp also brings new search, private reply features
WhatsApp has also added a new search feature in the Group Info section which allows users to effortlessly find members in large groups. Additionally, group admins are now listed on top, so one can easily contact them for complaints and/or queries. A private reply feature in group chats has also been added which allows users to seamlessly open a new window and reply privately.
