WhatsApp now lets you share longer voice notes as statuses
WhatsApp is enhancing its user experience by introducing a new feature that allows users to record and share voice status updates up to one minute long. This is a significant upgrade from the existing 30-second limit. This update, available for both iOS and Android users, is part of the latest versions of WhatsApp. The aim of this feature is to provide greater flexibility in sharing experiences, eliminating the need for multiple recordings.
How voice status update feature works
On WhatsApp, the voice status update feature operates by allowing users to record voice notes by holding down a mic button, mirroring how voice notes are sent in chats. Users also have the option to slide in order to cancel the voice note. The new 1-minute limit for voice status updates is currently accessible to some users who have installed the latest updates of WhatsApp for Android from Google Play Store and WhatsApp for iOS from App Store.
Upcoming enhancements to WhatsApp's status updates
Alongside the introduction of longer voice notes, WhatsApp is also working on new features designed to give users more control over their status updates. In the latest beta update for Android 2.24.11.15, WhatsApp has added a feature that allows users to mention contacts in their status updates. This feature directly notifies specific individuals, enhancing engagement. Mentions made in status updates are private, meaning that other viewers of the status will not be able to see who else has been mentioned.
