WhatsApp for iPhone gets group privacy controls and more features
WhatsApp has updated its iOS app to bring new features like group privacy controls, new alignment guidelines for media editing, and hidden display notification badges for muted chats. All these features are being released in a new iOS app carrying version number 2.19.110. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has also published a new support page to help iOS users with their iCloud backup issues. Here's more.
New Group Privacy Settings
WhatsApp for iOS version 2.19.110 brings new Group Privacy Settings to all the users, globally. Within new Group Privacy settings, selecting 'Everyone' option will allow anyone to add you to a WhatsApp group while choosing 'My Contacts' will only allow your saved contacts to add you to a group. Lastly, 'My Contacts Except' will let you further exclude contacts from your saved phone numbers.
New group setting similar to what's already available in India
The new Group Privacy settings, currently being released for global users, were originally rolled out in India earlier this year. These settings are the same as the ones that were released in India except that "Nobody" option has been replaced by "My Contacts Except."
What else is new in the latest WhatsApp update?
The new WhatsApp iOS app will also hide notification badges for muted chats. So, if a chat that you have muted gets a new message, the app icon won't show a notification badge. This version also introduces new alignment guidelines that help you position stickers, emojis, and more when editing media within WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has also activated a new iOS support page
Alongside the new features, WhatsApp has also activated a new support page on its website to help iOS users with iCloud backup issues. The troubleshooting page offers possible solutions to problems related to backing up or restoring from chat backup from iCloud.
