WhatsApp for iPhone lets you watch Facebook, Instagram videos in-app
Days after getting a slew of features like group video calling and third-party stickers, WhatsApp has released an update for its iOS users. WhatsApp for iOS (version 2.18.51) will now allow iPhone/iPad users to watch Facebook and Instagram videos right within the app - a feature WhatsApp released for YouTube in January this year. Here's more.
Everything to know about the update
In its change-log, WhatsApp mentions that in-app video playback will work for Facebook and Instagram. The feature may not be available for everyone right now as the roll-out will be done in phases. Additionally, the update also brings a Picture-in-Picture mode that lets you chat and navigate through WhatsApp while playing the video in a minimized bubble - just like YouTube's picture-in-picture mode.
The update brings a redesigned registration menu for European users
Within the new menu, WhatsApp will ask European users to confirm they are at least 16 years old when they are prompted to agree to new terms of service and privacy policy. Last month, WhatsApp raised its minimum age from 13 to 16 in Europe in order to comply with Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into force on May 25.
