WhatsApp will soon have verified accounts like Twitter, Facebook
WhatsApp is one of the most popular mobile messaging applications out there and it also enjoys a strong user base in India. Reportedly, it is now gearing up to roll out a new feature, which will cater to businesses. In this feature, similar to Twitter, a verified entity will get a green tick next to his/her name, which will confirm his/her identity. Here's more.
What's it all about?
WhatsApp in its FAQ page said that it is exploring ways to make users communicate seamlessly with the businesses that matter to them. Therefore, it has kick-started the process of verifying certain business accounts, so the user can be assured that they're legitimate in nature. Green ticks would legitimize it as an authentic business and ensure that it's not a scammer trying to phish details.
Another important feature
Moreover, the messaging app will also let you know when you are talking to a business by marking the conversation in yellow messages, inside the chat. One will not be able to delete these yellow messages from the chat; and they can serve as a proof that the particular conversation indeed took place between the user and the concerned business.
When can you expect it?
This feature is currently being rolled out in a limited capacity to a small number of businesses that are a part of WhatsApp's pilot program. As per reports, WhatsApp for Business will be a part of the app's beta version 2.17.285 and this will go live in about four months. Indian users will be among the first ones to get the rollout.
