WhatsApp working on new feature to streamline contact management
WhatsApp is currently developing a new feature aimed at enhancing the user experience, by simplifying contact management. According to WABetaInfo, this innovation, called "Manage favorites," will allow users to create a list of preferred chats, lowering the need for extensive navigation through contact lists. The primary goal is to facilitate both voice and video calls. The feature will be rolled out to beta Android users in the near future.
It will facilitate swift calling on the app
The new feature will enable users to compile a custom list of contacts for quick calling in a "Favorites" section within their WhatsApp settings. This update is expected to be particularly beneficial for those with extensive contact lists, eliminating the need for excessive scrolling. The option will likely be located within the existing Account settings in the app. When a user will designate someone as a favorite, WhatsApp will not notify the chosen individual about this change.
The feature will offer more personalized communication options
Previously, WhatsApp experimented with a "Favorites" feature for its web version, allowing users to highlight their most significant chats from the main list. On Android, the upcoming favorites feature could potentially offer more personalized communication options, such as sharing statuses exclusively with favorite contacts. Additionally, these favorite contacts could be featured in your chat list, with a dedicated section for faster access. However, there's no information currently available regarding the maximum number of favorites a user can designate.
