WhatsApp beta for Android gets AI-powered profile photo generator
WhatsApp is set to introduce a new feature in its latest update through the Google Play Beta Program. The update, version 2.24.11.17, will include a feature that generates AI-powered profile photos. This innovative feature will be available in a future update, continuing WhatsApp's trend of integrating artificial intelligence into its platform. Separately, WhatsApp is introducing an audience control feature for status updates on iOS.
Giving a description to generate an image
Following the previous WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.17.14 firmware, which introduced the ability to create and share AI stickers, WhatsApp is now developing a feature that allows users to generate unique profile photos using AI. Users will be able to create profile photos that reflect their personality, interests, and even moods more accurately than a standard photo. This will be done by providing a description of the desired image for the AI to generate.
AI-powered profile photos enhance user privacy
The new AI-powered profile photo feature is expected to enhance user privacy, by allowing them to use AI-generated images instead of real photos. This could potentially reduce the risk of misuse or unauthorized sharing of personal images. The feature also adds convenience for users who are unsure of which photo to use for their profile, offering a unique solution through artificial intelligence.
Audience control feature for status updates
WhatsApp is rolling out an audience control feature for status updates. The feature is discoverable on WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.75 update, available on the TestFlight app. After installing the newest update, a fresh audience selector will emerge when sharing images/videos via status updates. Users can review the audience they are sharing their content with, and ensure it is reaching the intended recipients.
