What will Google call its new Android 10 Q software?
We know each version of Android is named after something sweet. Hence, as Google is ready to showcase Android Q at its annual I/O event, the internet is abuzz with the name of the upcoming mobile software. And while "Pie" was easy, there aren't a lot of marketable desserts that start with the letter Q. So, what will Android Q be called?
Here are the probable names for Android Q
Given Google's naming conventions for Android, there aren't too many simple solutions for Q. As summed by the Verge, some of the possible names for Android 10 Q are Qurabiya, Quindim, Queen of Puddings, Qottab, Quesito, Queijadinha, Quirks, and Quince. And if not for these less familiar desserts, Google might also try some food names like Quinoa, Quail, Quesadilla, or even Quiche.
Alternatively, Google might simply give up its naming tradition
While there are a few desserts or food items that do start with Q, most of them are not common names. Hence, given these earlier suggested names lack global familiarity, Google might consider giving up its naming tradition for a more relatable and marketable name. Possibly, Google could use just regular numbers or city names or countries.
When will Google announce the name?
Google is all set to showcase its next mobile software, the Android Q, at its I/O 2019 developers event in California. The opening keynote is scheduled at 10:00 am PDT (10:30 pm in India) where we expect the tech giant to reveal the name.
Meanwhile, here are some highlights of Android Q
Until now, Google has released two beta versions of Android Q which bring better privacy and permissions controls, improved sharing shortcuts, support for foldable devices, and several tweaks to notifications panel. Notably, other updates will also include support for a Face ID-like facial recognition system, reverse app updates, a built-in screen recorder, improved navigation gestures, a system-wide dark mode, and a desktop mode.
